Just received final art for T-Shirts. Should be in this week.

For eighth grade students wishing to be roadies, please return the permission slip below. Also, click on “forms and handouts” above and download the release form. Both the permission slip and the release form must be completed to be considered as a roadie. Roadie selections will be announced on Thursday, Sept. 2.

I received this email today and I’m passing the info on. If you are considering OU, or just want to see what band is like at a major university, you should check it out.
Dear Band Directors,
The Pride of Oklahoma is continuing it’s “Game Day Guest” program for students that are considering coming to OU and participating in the Pride. This unique experience is FREE to the student, and is only for the student. It allows for them to spend the entire Game Day with The Pride – at our morning rehearsal, at lunch, at rewarm, the pregame concert, ON THE SIDELINES for both Pregame and Halftime, and the Post Game Concert!!
The participating students sit with The Pride (this is NOT a performing opportunity like HS Band Day, so they do not bring any instruments) and experience what it is like to be “in” The Pride during a game. Every home game (except this first, since it is our HS Band Day event) is an option to attend. The student will select games in priority order when they register.
If any of your students might be interested in this opportunity, here is the information for them:
- It is FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED (there are a limited number of seats per game, so get registered early!)
- Seniors in HS get 1st priority, then Juniors
- Sophomores may apply, but might not be able to participate (based on the number of upper-class applications)
- Everyone must register at bands.ou.edu
- They must send in 2 forms of recommendation (the form is emailed to them after they register)
- They must send in a resume (something that would be sent for a scholarship opportunity)
Once their file is complete, it will be reviewed. If their resume and recommendation letters are approved, and space is still available for the games they selected, they are invited by the Faculty here at OU to spend an entire game day with us!
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions about this, or just give my information to your students! We love to offer this to the HS students and they love to attend! It’s a lot of fun for them and yes – TOTALLY FREE FOR THEM!!!

Slowly adding pep tunes to the site. Keep checking in to see what we’ll be playing in the stands (and more importantly start practicing on them!)
I’ll be mailing this tomorrow. If you get it here, please email me your name (youngma@vinitahornets.com) or reply here and let me know so I can save the stamp. Download the letter below.

We’re adding a few new ways to spread announcements and reminders this year. In addition to the website, you can also find band updates on the official Blue Pride Band facebook page or follow us on twitter @vinitaband.
I’m working on a way to send updates via text messages. More on that soon.
I recently received an email inviting students to a band day at the University of Oklahoma on September 4. The email and flyer I received are attached. Click “continue reading…” for more information on this event.
NOTE: This is not a required event for anyone, just letting you know about the opportunity.
